Smoothie season

There’s no better time of year to jump on the smoothie bandwagon than Summer. Smoothies are a great option for breakfasts on the go, a lunch that wont leave you feeling too heavy, or even a mid-afternoon snack that will help keep you cool in the summer sun.

However, it’s easy to get carried away with what goes in your smoothie and ending up with a creation that is more of a treat, rather than a nutritious meal.

We’ve whipped up some options that are heavy on the good stuff, and lighter on the not-so-good. Full of flavour and packing a protein punch, these are a great way to treat your body and your tastebuds at the same time.

Mango Blueberry Protein Smoothie Recipe

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (we also like plain water or coconut water)
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup frozen mango
  • 1 serving NuZest Smooth Vanilla protein powder
  • 1 spoon Ceres Organics LSA
  • Ice

Add all ingredients except ice to blender and mix. Add ½ cup ice and blend. Add more if desired.

Blueberry Mint Green Smoothie

  • 2 cups spinach
  • 2 cups blueberries (or mixed berries)
  • 1 kiwifruit
  • 4 large mint leaves
  • 1 cup coconut water (or plain water)
  • 1 cup ice

Option: switch out the kiwifruit for half a frozen banana if you want it a little sweeter and creamier.

Add all ingredients except ice to blender and mix. Add ¾ cup ice and blend. Add more if desired.

Go Green Smoothie

  • 2 cups spinach leaves
  • 1/2 banana (frozen is best)
  • 1 spoon of avocado
  • 1 serving NuZest Smooth Vanilla Protein powder
  • 1/2 - 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup water (or coconut water)
  • 1 spoon Ceres Organics LSA
  • Ice

Add all ingredients except ice to blender and mix. Add ¾ cup ice and blend. Add more if desired.

Tip: Chilled green tea is another great base for your green smoothies. A hint of flavour and a heap of antioxidants, without the unnecessary calories from some thicker alternatives.
